I recommend this book for anyone who does psychotherapy and for anyone who has been physically and/or psychologically abused as a child. Sarah lets you see inside a growing child's mind what can happen to a child that affects them through adulthood. She gives you a glimpse into why abused children sometimes are unable to get out of their abusive situations. Healing this scars of the past takes guts, determination, and a bravery that many who were not abused cannot even begin to understand.No matter how your own abuse may compare to Sarah's, abuse is abuse and has many of the same psychological damage as the worse. The abused can be victorious, however, and Sarah's book, though sad and tough to read, is uplifting. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Good book but rather drawn out. The errors are outrageous. Someone needs to read and correct them. I'd say 20+ opens your eyes to abuse
I thought it was very moving & a story that is good to get out there as too many children keep their pain a secret
Love this set of books. I lived through some of what she wrote about and made it through it also.

So sad that people actually go through all this. Makes you realise life from the other side of the fence!!!
This set of books is simply amazing. The only bad part is knowing this stuff really happened. It made me look back on my school years, sadly I believe I overlooked some kids with similar situations. I regret it very much. I think every parent should read these books, and every teenager as well. Maybe if enough people do, there is a better chance that someone, somewhere, will do something to help end the cycle of abuse. I applaud you, Sarah Burleton. Thank you for having the courage to put your story out there. You are fabulous.
It's hard to imagine anyone having to grow up in a household like that. Sarah is an inspiration. Just goes to show that know matter what kind of childhood you had you can overcome.
