*Note: This is my husband, Seth's, review as he is helping me with my gigantic review pile*

What can I say about this book? I was pleasantly surprised. I did not expect to be pulled into the story of the book the way that I was. I mean, at first it was a little on the slow side but once the main characters second life began the book threw me for a loop and I was hooked. I generally don't go into too many details when writing reviews as to not spoil the story for people. If you want a synopsis on what the book is about I am sure you can find one on the authors webpage. The characters were well written, the plot made sense and had a good hook, and I read it from front to back in one setting. If I can't say anything better about this book then I don't know what will convince you to read it.

The Seventeenth Pocket The Last Days of Kerious Pye Book 1 eBook Hargus Montgomery Reviews

This was a really fun book. It starts with a Michael Crichton feel; where the world is searching for the "code" and once some scientist breaks the code, it will change the world. Arden is an excellent character that cannot lie and has no ego. It's really hard to describe someone like that, but Montgomery did a great job writing with perfect clarity. The Seventeenth Pocket seamlessly slips into a fantasy/sci fi novel. The chapters bounce around from the point of view of each character (which I love). I believe this book would fit perfectly on a young adult shelf in a library, and adults will enjoy it, too!
An original way of looking at the world, life, death and travel. An excellent book for readers of every age. Hargus Montgomery's character of Arden is beautiful mix of innocence, compassion and humor. I want to read more about all of these characters and I look forward to reading the "Kerious Pye" series.
This was a fantastic read! The plot was well-written and easy to follow. Essentially humanity is trying to find a "code" which would unlock or allow someone access to the afterlife..or at least let them communicate with the dead. The global community is desperate to find these answers, and the story weaves through several characters who are on different sides of this quest. The answer, however, could end everything. Without putting a lot of spoilers in, I'll just say that the book was thought provoking and entertaining. I couldn't put it down! Hopefully we won't have to wait long for the next book in the series!
This series has a lot of promise. Tackling the age-old mystery of life, death and other worlds, Montgomery's prose is fresh and probing. Indeed it takes on much bigger issues than the Harry Potter series, exploring the human condition in greater depth and with more maturity.

While there are a lot of characters to keep track of, and I do think the characters and story line could have been developed in fewer pages, the author's eye for detail and rich narration helps the reader truly "know" each character and "see" the parallel worlds in which the characters live. Montgomery artfully discloses just enough to keep the characters moving in the story while dropping hints of more to come. You will get hooked, turning pages fast to discover more.

Science fiction fans of all ages will enjoy this book. It is exceptionally well suited to young adult readers and fantasy fiction lovers.
I cannot believe how much I loved this book. I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter books, the His Dark Materials Trilogy, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (+ the Hobbit), and more recently, the Hunger Games - so I'm always looking for something new to replace the void I feel when I'm done getting obsessed with these worlds.

The characters HAVE to be good, and the plot has to be at least somewhat original - because honestly, I've read them all. This book more than exceeds my requirements in both areas. Characters that at first seem obvious slowly become these incredibly elaborate personalities (just like real life). And the story is one of the most unique I have ever read.

Water that "speaks"? Old men entirely without egos? Breaking the death code?

Highly recommend this one. And I'm quite the critic.
This book is hard to describe where do I start...when you die is there more out there or are you just gone? What if you could still talk to the love ones you lost? What if the parts of your brain you don't use are the key to doing that? What if all the doctors and powerful people in the world were trying to break that code first for the power and money that would come with that knowledge? What happens if the code is broken? Now that being said the book isn't written in a dark way its more sci-fi young adult fiction if I had to try and class it.I think this book it great for lots of age groups. Some how this writer doesn't make you feel like the story is over when someone passes its only the begining. There is so much to this story traveling to other worlds, good vs evil,so many things I don't want to spoil it for you so I will leave it at that.If you would like to try a book thats a bit different and you dont know where you will end up next in a good way I say give this book a shot for sure.I loved this book and I look forward to what this writer has to offer next.
